Description
This kit has been optimized by Laser® / ILCA® sailors and contains a large selection of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene tapes with an aggressive acrylic adhesive. The result is a very tough material, with the highest impact strength of any thermoplastic made. It has extremely low coefficient of friction, self-lubricating and highly resistant to abrasion (15 times more resistant to abrasion than steel) and offers an efficient solution to many wear and tear problems.
#1 | 2 disks | 65 mm diameter for the maststep |
#2 | 2 strips | 50 mm wide for the maststep and mast deck |
#3 | 1 strip | 17 mm x 2 meter for snug fit on the top mast section |
#4 | 1 strip | 30 mm x 2 meter for snug fit on the top mast section |
#5 | 1 strip | 34 mm x 150 mm for the deck abrasion from the tiller |
#6 | 1 strip | 150 mm x 300 mm for the outhaul |
#7 | 5 squares | 30 mm x 30 mm for the daggerboard |
How to use the protection pack:
#1 – Disk. The disk should be placed at the bottom of the maststep, leaving the disk free to move. There are two pieces in case you loose one.
#2 – Maststep and deck. There are two indentical strips to be placed respectively at the lower end of the bottom mast section and at the deck level not exceeding 1 more than 10 mm above deck level. Join on port or starboard side.
19. Mast (a). To prevent abrasion of the maststep, a tube or collar of uniform thickness not exceeding 1 mm may be placed around the entire circumference of the bottom mast or the maststep cavity. The tube or collar shall not extend more than 1 0 mm above deck level. In addition, a disk of unifonn thickness not exceeding 1 mm in thicknessmay be placed in the bottom of the maststep.
#3/4 – Snug fit of the upper section. These two strips are made to get rid of any gaps and flex in the joint between the upper and bottom mast.
19. Mast (c). Tape or other bushing material may applied to both the plastic end cap, the collar of the upper mast and the upper mast to ensure a snug fit. The tape or bushing material may only be used on that portion of the plastic parts that actually slide into the lower section and/or between the upper mast and the collar and it shall be a uniform thickness around the circumference. Taping or bushing material above the collar to fair the collar into the mast is prohibited.
#5 – Tiller. The strip must be applied crosswise on the deck to avoid the friction and wear and tear caused by the tiller.
#6 – Outhaul. The strip must be applied lengthwise under the boom to minimize friction with the outhaul loop.
#7 – Squares. You must apply the little squares in the top front corner of the daggerboard case.
14. Daggerboard (d). One layer in any material of maximum 2 mm thickness and of a maximum size of 30 x 30 mm may be applied at the top front corner of the daggerboard case.
